How to use the machines
Looking after the machines
Laundry Libraries
Please use the rooftop washing machines, dryers and washing lines allocated to your community (e.g. Laak residents use the south-east facilities). Each community has different guidelines around the use and cleaning of their own laundry.
Machines are free to use. Also free is the Kin Kin eco laundry detergent (wash) and vinegar (softener), which we provide because these products are better for the environment.
The low washing lines are for people who need them, so if you can reach the high lines, please use them.
Please be considerate of neighbours and do not run spin cycles late at night.
Laundry liquid is placed in the left-hand machine drawer compartment.
Full load: 35mL (approx 1 & half tbsp)
Half load: 20mL (approx 1 tbsp)

Vinegar is a good organic fabric softener and excellent for cleaning the drum of the washing machine. It should be placed in the middle compartment.

If you use your own powder-based products, please gently remove the liquid drawer from the machine first or place powders directly into the drum of the machine.
Treat the machines like they are your own — clean them, empty the lint basket in the dryer and leave the doors slightly open to reduce odor.
Move your clothes in and out of the machines promptly after your wash or dry so the next person can use it. If you remove clothes out of the machine to use it, leave a neat pile on the bench or empty basket above the machine.
Miss V, our cleaning team, give the laundry floors, benches and sinks a weekly clean. They do not clean the machines. Check whether your community has a resident cleaning schedule you can help with.
In the event that there is a fault with one of the machines, please log the issue using this maintenance form immediately so we can fix it. Place a note on the machine to warn others. The OC committee will manage the maintenance and eventual replacement of the washing machines.
